Blessings from God for the divorced Christian woman

Reflections from Isaiah 54
If you are a Christian woman who is divorced, I believe God has a special place in His heart for you and for your children. The divorced woman of today has a similar status, culturally, socially, and financially, to the widow of biblical times. Churchianity may convey to you subtly, or forcefully, that you are a second class citizen in the kingdom of God. But I promise, God does not see you that way. Yes, I know. God hates divorce! He hates divorce because marriage is intended to be an earthly representation of the perfect union between Christ and His Church. God does not divorce us nor can we divorce Him once we have made a whole-hearted commitment to Him. So God values marriage and commitment.
But your are divorced. So where does that leave you? It places you as the apple of His eye. How can that be? God values you and considers you precious, no matter your circumstances. Divorce cannot change that. Were you abandoned by your husband? Or did you take bold steps to free yourself from a relationship that was mentally, emotionally, or spiritually toxic? Was your husband verbally, financially, or physically abusive? Or was your divorce a result of your own bad choices? Regardless of the reason, you are now a divorced woman.
God's heart is filled with tender-hearted compassion for you! He wants you to know today that He is not angry with you. He wants to give you the love you need. He is passionately concerned about every detail of your life. As God looks after the orphans and the widows, He looks after you. He is there protecting you, providing for you, and rebuilding your life. He will fight for you, and He will vindicate you. Let God fill your heart with the deep abiding conviction that you are far more precious than rubies!
As you read and ponder the words of Isaiah 54, remember that it was originally written for the nation of Israel who suffered because of her rebellion against God! So no matter what your situation, this passage is for you. God wants to free you from any guilt or condemnation you may be experiencing, whether from yourself or from others. He is intensely interested in you and wants to heal you completely, from the inside out. He delights in you with great joy, like a man who suddenly found the greatest treasure on earth!
